Ishigaki Island is a picturesque island surrounded by mountains that extend out into the Yae area centered around Mount Omoto (526 m), the highest in the prefecture. The island, blessed with a comfortable warm climate, is also surrounded by the stunning emerald green ocean and coral reefs, and is home picturesque spots including Kabira Bay, which is designated as a National Site of Scenic Beauty.
